Cricut Infusible Ink - Coasters

Here is the last post in my Cricut Infusible Ink series. Coasters! Mine were the ceramic (not cork backed) blanks and I chose to try the ink transfer SHEETS. Since the coasters are just over 3" in diameter, using leftover bits of sheets was perfect.

For the design, I settled on fruit patterns from the Folk Art Cricut cartridge. The cuts were not too detailed and I thought the patterns would work really well with the bright colors and patterned ink sheets I chose. Remember, you must MIRROR your cuts! I really did not have to with the patterns I chose, but it's a good habit to get into.

A note on "weeding." The easiest way I found to weed was to gently bend the backing allowing the cut pieces to pop up and grab with your fingers or tweezers. Traditional weeding tools were more difficult to use due to the thickness of the ink sheets.

I have see a LOT of questions about using an EasyPress rather than and EasyPress2. Yes, Cricut suggests an EasyPress 2 for several reasons, but they do, in fact, provide temps & time for using an EasyPress for Infusible Ink. Here is the link, which I suggest you bookmark:

Per the guide, ceramic coasters with an EasyPress should bet set at 360 degrees for 300 seconds. (That is not a typo, it is THREE HUNDRED seconds.)

The "sandwich" is as follows:

* Heat Press Mat

* White Cardstock Sheet

* Infusible Ink sheet

* Blank

* Butcher Paper

* EasyPress (or EasyPress2)

First, use a lint free cloth to fully clean your coaster blanks, you don't want oils from your fingers or any lint bits. Then affix your cut to the blank. Because there was enough of the sticky backing exposed, I did not have to use heat resistant tape to secure cuts to the blank.

Then turn your blanks UPSIDE DOWN onto white card stock and cover with a sheet of butcher paper. Remember that Cricut will INCLUDE a couple pieces of butcher paper with the infusible ink sheets.

Gently place your EasyPress on top of it all and heat. When the 300 seconds (EasyPress2 will have different temps and seconds) is up, gently lift the press upwards and do NOT disturb the stack.

These coasters will be REALLY hot. Do not move them until they are fully cooled. Remover the butcher paper, then gently peal off the infusible ink sheet.

I think these will be a great addition to my summer decor! The cherries are my favorite I think. Which is your favorite?
